Hello,

I have not done a post in years, so I thought I would do a little update. I posted a mini chop in 2015 and since then I have big chopped and I have been fully natural since 2015 and loving it.

The last couple of years I have been getting to know my hair and the products it likes and the ones it dislikes. For example my hair loves mango butter but it hates coconut oil.

This year I want to retain as much hair as possible, I will be protective styling as much as possible this year with the hope of passing armpit length.

Wash Day and Mini Chop

Products list
Argan oil
Shea mouisture coconut and hibiscus shampoo
Argan smooth hair masque
African Pride Shea butter leave in

(1) I started off by sections for my hair in four and applying the argan oil to my hair and scalp. Place and plastic cap on my head and left it for 30 mins
(2) cleansed my hair and scalp with my shampoo
(3) deep conditioned with the argan smooth hair masque for 1 hour and rinsed
(4) towel dried my hair.

It was at this point the problems started, whilst my hair was still wet I applied my leave in and oil. I then parted my hair into sections and attempted to detangle my hair.

Whilst combing my hair I noticed that my hair was a lot more tangled than usual and a lot of hair was coming away from head. I got nervous and decided to cut out the knots and tangles instead of trying to detangle which resulted in a mini chop.

SB: I still have some texlaxed hair at the top of my head however the back of my hair is now 100% natural.

Once my hair was dry I braided my hair up and will be protective styling with my wigs.

I'm back

Hello,

I haven't uploaded a blog post since June   In previous posts I have said that I am stretching my relaxer and that I am in 2 minds about what to do next. I haven't been doing much to my hair and my hair regime consists of protective styling and washing my hair once a month.

However in September I will be 1 year post relaxer and my wash days have become a bit more stressful. Working with 2 textures is not an easy task and have the sudden urge to big chop. lol. I'm still not 100% sure and I may decide that I want to relax my hair again.

After my mini break I am back to documenting my hair journey so lets see how it goes.

Nape Update pt 3

It is no secret that my nape is a problem area for me.

                                                                        April 2014

                                                                     October 2014

After my relaxer in September I cut my hair in my nape area as I felt I needed to start again.

June 2015

The above picture from June 2015 Is what my nape currently looks like, its still not great but aat least there is a bit on progress. I am hoping that by the end of the year I will have no thin spots.

Minimalist wash day

I have been trying to keep my wash days as simple as possible to minimise breakage as I am currently 10 months post relaxer.

Products
Coconut oil
Tresemme naturals shampoo
Tresemme naturals conditioner
Cantu Shea butter shine and hold mist
African pride Shea butter leave in.

Detangling and Pre poo:
I began by removing my braids and applying coconut oil to my hair a scalp, I then used my fingers to detangle my hair.

Shampoo
Applied Tresemme naturals shampoo to my hair and scalp, rinsed then repeated.

Deep Condition
I parted my hair into 4 sections and applied the Tresemme conditioner to my hair. I did 4 bantu knots and put a plastic cap on my hair. I let that sit for just over an hour before rinsing my hair.

Leave ins
Once my t-shirt had soaked up most of the water I parted my hair into 4 sections and applied cantu shea butter shine and hold mist onto my hair followed by my African pride leave in. Then using a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair before braiding my hair up.

I let my hair dry over night and did a flat braiding pattern so that i could wear my wig.

I featured this wig in my previous post, the only difference is that I switched it from a side part to a middle part.

How was your most recent wash day x

New Products

A lot of you may recognise these two products and remember your mother using them to style your hair. When I first started my hair journey I looked to a lot of hair care forums and blogs for advice and the majority if not all of them claimed that products such as pink oil were no good for your hair. So I threw mine out and went the all natural route.

Looking back I'm not sure why I stopped using these products because they never did my hair any harm when I was younger and my hair was healthy and relativity long.  A few days ago I went to the hair shop and bought pink oil moisturiser and blue magic conditioner hair dress.

I doubt I will do a hair review on these items because I mean who doesn't know about these products. lol

Wash Day : Still Relaxer Stretching

I didn’t actually realise this until today but I am nearly 9 months post relaxer, my hair regime has been the same since January and I don’t plan on changing it any time soon. The main questions is when will I be relaxing my hair again and the honest truth is I may not.

I currently don’t have any relaxer to hand and the whole relaxer process makes me cringe right now so I'm going to keep stretching until I get tired and either big chop or relax my hair.

 Products list

Tresemme Naturals Conditioner
SM Coconut and Hibiscus Shampoo
Dr Miracles
Aunt Jackie's in control moisturiser

African Pride leave in

(2) I then applied SM shampoo to my hair and repeated before rinsing.
(3) Applied Dr miracles medicated conditioner to my hair and left it for 5 mins and rinsed.
