Relaxer Day

(1) I started off by parting my hair into sections and self relaxed using ORS, leave my temple and nape till last.
(2) rinsed out the relaxer and then applied Aphogee 2 min reconstructor for a few mins and rinsed it out.
(3) Neautralized my hair with ORS creamy aloe vera shampoo.
(4) Applied Paul Mitchell's super skinny daily treatment, left it in my hair for about 2-3 mins and rinsed.
(5) Deep conditioned with Aunt Jackies moisturising conditioner for 45 mins with a plastic cap.
(6) After I rinsed out my deep conditioner I applied Palmers Coconut milk to my hair along with Paul Mitchell's super skinny serum and blow-dried my hair.
(7) Sprayed Vo5 heat protectant on my hair, combed it though and then straightened my hair in small sections.

Once that was done applied a little more of the coconut milk and wrapped my hair with a satin scarf and went to sleep.

So today I realised that I probably didn't have to cut my hair back in feb, if I had just used products designed to smooth my hair like the Paul Mitchell's super skinny line, I probably would have been able to save my ends.

Wash Day/ Relaxer prep

(1) Pre pooed with coconut oil for 1 hour.
(2) Shampooed with Komaza Care Moja shampoo.
(3) Applied L'oreal Elvive Full restore 5 Masque for 45 Mins and rinsed.
(4) Wrapped a towel round my hair and left my hair to air dry
(5) When My hair was semi dry I applied Darcy Botanicals leave in and Organix Moroccan oil to my hair, tied a scarf on my edges and continued to air dry.

My wash day seemed pretty lazy and some what rushed, mainly because  I skipped my usual cowash, detangle and green tea rinse stages.

I chose to skip the green tea rinse because I didn't see a lot of shed hairs whilst I washed my hair, my wash day consisted of a new product from L'oreal it contains keratin and ceramides which is meant to be really good for hair.

New Product : Darcy Botanicals Daily Leave in

After reading the ingredients of the Palmers Coconut Milk and discovering that the product has silicon's I was instantly put of by this and decided to order Darcy Botanicals daily leave in.

I ordered a 8oz bottle from www.britishcurlies.co.uk, I really hope my hair likes this in fact my hair better like it considering the price I paid for it.

Wash Day

(1) Washed my hair with Komaza care moja shampoo.
(2) Applied Vo5 clarifying conditioner to my hair and detangled my hair.
(3) Did a protein treatment with Aphogee 2 min reconstructor.
(4) Followed this with a green tea rinse.
(5) After rinsing out the green tea I applied my deep conditioner
(6) Rinsed out the conditioner and wrapped and old T-shirt round my hair.

Once I rinsed out the conditioner my hair was fluffy and looked kind of curly. As I will be bunning my hair this week I decided to moisturise with Palmers coconut hair milk and sealed with a mix of castor oil and coconut oil. I then braided my hair into 4 sections and applied the eco styler gel to my edges. To keep my edges laid I wrapped my hair with a scarf and left my hair to air dry.

Top knot bun

After researching the ingredients on the back of the palmers hair milk I found out that it contains silicons, so I am currently using a shea butter mix until my new product arrives.

From Paris with love

Over the weekend I went to Paris and had a wonderful time. Lol!

Hair Update.

The weather in London has improved so I decided to take off my u part and give my hair some breathing time before my relaxer day.

I am currently 10 weeks post and Im really trying to stretch my relaxer to at least 12 weeks so I need my new growth to stay manageable so that I can achieve this, lol.

I recently purchased Palmers Coconut hair milk and Im hoping this will help keep my hair moisturised and maybe even become a staple.

I also picked up a huge jar of Ecostyler olive oil gel to help tame my edges.

My main hair goals until my relaxer day are:

  • To moisturise and seal my hair every day.
  • Keep working on growing out my nape.
  • Stay away from all forms of direct heat.

Taming My Edges.

For as long as I can remember I have never been a fan of hair gels even when I was younger and it was the trend to gel down your baby hairs and side burns I chose not to mainly because I saw the way it would leave girls hair all flaky and dry. That's probably one of my biggest pet peeves with gels however after hearing great reviews about edge control I decided to try 1 or 2 to see if they were as good as people said they were.

So far I have tried Dr Miracles edge holding gel and the Eco Styler's Edge Control play 'n stay argan oil edge and control and style control. I have tried each of the two products on various occasions and I really dislike the results I am left with, when I apply the edge control to my edges at first my hair appears to lay flat and look tamed however after a few hours the product becomes sticky mess on my hair and my edges no longer lay flat. Even though neither of them are products I would purchase again I will say that I prefer the Dr Miracles product because it has better ingredients and seems to hold my hair longer.

Relexer Stretching with the help of U Part wigs.

In previous posts I mentioned that I will be streatching my relaxer to 12-16 weeks (3 to 4 months) and the only way I am able to hold out so long until my next relaxer is by wearing some form of protective hairstyle which will stop me from playing in my hair.

I decided to make a new u part wig.

The u part before I sewed the closure to it.

However after finishing the u part wig a closure piece that I had forgotten that I had ordered arrived, so I removed some weave from the u part and sewed the closure to the u part making it a full wig.

Up close pics of the closure.

Disclaimer: Please excuse my edges I'm still trying to find a good product to keep them laid lol

Wash Day.

I am currently 8 weeks post relaxer and my new growth is in full force.

(1) I started off with a pre poo using Extra virgin coconut oil.
(2) Cleansed my scalp with Komaza care shampoo, lathered up twice and rinsed.
(3) Co washed with Vo5 tea tree conditioner and detangled.
(4) Deep conditioned with Aunt Jackies for 45 mins and rinsed.
(5) Wrapped a towel around my head and let my hair air dry.

Whilst my hair was air drying I applied some aloe butter and coconut oil to my hair.

U part wig with a closure.

I mentioned in a previous post that I will be stretching my relaxer for another 6 to 8 weeks and the best way or me to do this would be to wear a U part wig and a closure to give my hair a break from heat.

I sewed the closure down first before sewing my U part wig down after, the original length of the weave was 16 inches I cut it to a 14 inches and bleached different sections of the wefts for a highlighted look.

The Picture quality is not great because It was taken at night.

The products I used to get my results.

I then Blow dried my hair using the moroccan argan oil and a paddle brush before straightening my hair. I then added some curls using a curling wand.

I decided to give this unit to my mum because I could not get the closure to behave, I also wanted longer lengths...  Stay tuned x
