Wash Day.

Recently my hair has been really dry and after my last wash day I need to get my healthy looking hair back.

(1) Mixed Alberto Balsam coconut and lychee conditioner with Jojoba oil and let it sit with a plastic cap for a few hours
(2) Washed my hair with a natural shampoo bar with Argan Oil.
(3) Deep Condit with Aunt Jackies
(4) Wrapped my hair in an old t-shirt to let my hair dry a little bit.
(5) Applied Elasta Qp olive and mango butter to my hair and let my hair air dry.

Todays wash day was nice and easy and my hair feels clean but moisturised however after using the shampoo bar I don't like the way shampoo makes my hair feel and prefer conditioners and cleansers.

The left pic is my hair before I washed and deep conditioned and the right pic is after whilst air drying.

Castor Oil Challenge pt2

Its not much of an update but I thought I would do a post on my castor oil challenge so far, I am currently 4 weeks post relaxer and previously mentioned that I was going to be wearing u part wigs for a bit. Initially I wasn't too sure on how I was going to carry out this challenge whilst the wig was sewn to my head however it has been an easy process.

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening I cut the thread from the back of my wig and flip it over exposing my braided hair undeneath, I apply my Castor oil mix (JBCO mixed with Eucalyptus oil, Lavender oil and Jojoba oil) directly to my scalp. I then massage in-inbetween each of the braids before sewing the back of my wig back down. I have also been appling the castor oil to my temple and nape area.

I plan to do a proper length check when I relax my hair sometime in May.

Wash Day.

(1) Did a pre poo overnight with EVOO, Avocado oil, JBCO and eucalyptus oil.
(2) Cleansed hair with Hair One.
(3) Did a green tea rinse.
(4) Deep Conditioned with Aunt Jackie's in control moisturising conditioner.
(5) Let my hair get 85% dry then blow dried my hair on cool.
(6) Braided my hair up and sewed down my u part wig.

I dont have any pictures from todays wash day because it was a pretty lazy wash which left me with horrible results. Even after washing my hair and deep conditioning my hair was greasy and I have the feeling it was because I have been oiling my scalp with JBCO so adding JBCO to my hot oil treatment seems to have resulted in build up. As I have braided my hair up and will be wearing a u part wig I am not really worried about my hair feeling greasy. However by my next wash day I am going to have to find a clarifying shampoo that does not contain sulphates and does not foam up to remove the build up.

Hair One hair cleanser and conditioner.

Introducing my new hair cleanser. For a while now I have been suffering from dry irritated and itchy scalp which I felt was happening because my hair wasn't getting enough moisture. After trying many different shampoos and oils I started to think that maybe the issue was with shampoos and not my scalp.  Recently I have been cleansing my hair and scalp with conditioner, I then discovered Hair One hair cleanser and conditioner.

Start at the back of the head and work through to the ends.

My Opinion:

At 1st I wasn't too sure about this cleanser mainly because I'm so used to my hair feeling squeaky clean  whenever I washed my hair, so when I did wash my hair with hair one my hair didn't feel clean. However I soon realised that Hair one did in fact work it just wasn't as harsh as regular shampoo was. After using it My hair felt clean but moisturised and silky.  The creamy consistency of the cleanser made it very easy for me to detangle my hair even when I had a lot of new growth and with me having very thick hair this was a bonus.  The only con I do have with this product is the smell, it has a very strong minty type of smell to it however once I deep condition my hair the smell disappears.

Hair Update.

I decided to go back to wearing u part wigs over the weekend, however trying to blend my leave out with my u part was proving very difficult, I even went as far as to ignore my no direct heat ban and used some direct heat on it, even though it was on the lowest heat setting the only things i could think about was heat damage, breakage, another set back.

I recently ordered a lace closure and decided to make another u part wig but this time with a lace  closure attached. The wig turned out pretty good however I'm still trying to perfect the parting on the closure and I'm sure I over bleached the knots but Im happy that I wont have to use any direct heat on my hair.
