Hair Update.

After my most recent relaxer (see details here) I have decided to make some changes to my hair regime.

Although my hair has grown I was not completely happy with the condition of my hair. Over the last few months I became lazy, I focused more on protective styling and less on the actual health of my hair.

  • Until my next relaxer I will be concentrating on balancing on mouisture and protein.
  • I will not be using any heat on my hair
  • I will no longer be relaxing my nape until I can get over my nape damage.
  • I will also be changing the way I maintain my hair whilst protective styling.

April 2014 vs Sept 2014

Relaxer Update.

(1) I started off by parting my hair into 3 sections, then I based my scalp with Dr Miracles temple and nape balm.
(2) Then I mixed up the relaxer, that's right is said mix. This time I decided to use the ORS lye relaxer.
(3) After I had applied the relaxer I smoothed it down and left it for 15mins.
(4) Shampooed with ORS creamy aloe shampoo.
(5) I then applied my deep conditioner to my hair and let it sit for 2 hours.
(6) Wrapped a t-shirt around my hair for a little while before applying my leave in conditioner and detangling my hair.
(7) I followed up by spraying chi heat protectant and serum before blow drying my hair and flat ironing it.

I was quite please with my hair after I relaxed it however I did miss a very important step by forgetting to do a protein treatment I need to fix this on my next wash day.

From the pictures below you can see that I was able to retain a bit of length, however not as much as I was hoping and this was my fault.

Over the last 5 months I have been using heat on my hair a lot more than usual. instead of air drying my hair I would blow dry my hair instead.

Relaxer Update

(1) I started off by sectioning my hair into 4 and basing my scalp with a hair cream from dr miracles.

(2) Applied the relaxer to my new growth, smoothed it down and left it in for a bout 12mins.

(3) Rinsed out the relaxer and neutralized with ORS shampoo.

(4) I followed up with a green tea rinse leaving the green tea in my hair whilst applying my Protein treatment.

(5) I then deep conditioned with Crème of natures intensive moisturising conditioner for a hour and rinsed.

(6) I wrapped my hair in towel for 30 mins (by this time my hair was no longer dripping wet)

(7) I parted my hair into 4 sections and sprayed Aphogee green tea reconstructor on my hair and ends.

(8) Worked in the hair spray and detangled with a wide tooth comb before spraying Chi iron guard onto my hair and blow-dried my hair.

(9) Once my hair was completely dry I applied Chi silk infusion serum to each section and began straightening my hair using the tension comb.

I was able to retain some length and I'm happy with my hair however I will need to trim my hair soon, my hair doesn't seem even and its annoying me. lol

Relaxer Update.

(1) I started of by parting my hair into small sections and based my scalp, nape and temple with coconut oil.
(2) Applied the relaxer to my hair, leaving my nape and temple area till last.
(3) After leaving the relaxer in for about 15 mins (after smoothing it out) I rinsed.
(4) I noticed a bit of shedding whilst washing my hair so I did a green tea rinse, I then applied the apogee 2 min reconstructor mixed with the Loreal Full Restore Masque, left this in my hair for about 20 mins.
(5) Deep conditioned with Elasta QP Soy oil conditioner and left it in for about 1 hour.
(6) Wrapped my hair in an old t-shirt till it was about 80% dry.
(7) Applied my DB leave in and PM super skinny serum and detangled my hair.
(8) I then blow dried my hair on the cool setting.
(9) Sprayed my Chi heat protectant and straightened my hair.

Todays relaxer turned out to be one of the best yet, I managed to apply the relaxer to my whole head within good time and I did not under process my hair. Once I straightened my hair I got to assess my ends and they seem to be doing a lot better after my cut in Jan.
